Meet Craig Hansen
The TERO Guy
Craig A. Hansen, a.k.a., "The TERO Guy," served as the TERO Director for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe for 15 years. In this role, he was responsible for ensuring compliance with the Tribal Employment Rights Office, which gives legal preference to Native Americans in employment, training, and contracting on the reservation.
Craig was actively involved in monitoring major construction projects, such as Grand Casino renovations and a new Health and Human Services facility, to ensure adherence to Tribal law. He also worked to expand the TERO office staff and was involved in organizing training opportunities for Mille Lacs Band members. Craig is known for his efforts to build relationships with key leaders, including the State Commissioner of Education, MNDoT, Cement Masons Union, IUOE Local 49 Union, Local 563 Laborers Union, and other union and tribal groups.
Craig served as the Native American Representative on the Equity Oversight Committee for the construction of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. He also served as the Chairman of the Great Lakes TERO Region, the Chairman of the National TERO Board (Council for Tribal Employment Rights). Throughout his extensive experience facilitating tribal employment opportunities, Craig has consistently expressed excitement about the TERO Commission's potential to shape the future of Tribal law in North America. He currently serves as the Board Chair of the TERO Commission for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
